Review of The Crafty Irishman – Downtown Dallas

The Crafty Irishman is a hidden gem in downtown Dallas, offering old-world charm in a cozy, intimate setting. This small, quaint pub has an inviting atmosphere, with warm wood accents, classic Irish decor, and a welcoming feel that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The outdoor patio is a great spot to enjoy the lively city vibe while still feeling tucked away in a little European-style escape.

I ordered the Granddad whiskey drink, which was smooth, well-balanced, and perfect for sipping. But the highlight of the meal was the pub curry, served with crispy French fries. The curry had a deep, rich flavor with just the right amount of warmth and spice, coating each bite in a comforting, savory sauce. Pairing it with fries was a genius move, making every bite indulgent and satisfying.

If you’re looking for a place with character, great drinks, and hearty, flavorful food, The Crafty Irishman delivers. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick pint or lingering over a meal, it’s a spot that captures the true essence of a classic Irish pub.

This place quickly became my favorite restaurant, earning a solid 5/5 rating across the board! The service, ambiance, food, and drinks were simply outstanding.

Service: The staff was excellent, attentive, and made us feel right at home.

Drinks: I highly recommend the seasonal plum cocktail—it was a delightful treat!

Food: The highlight of my meal was the Monte Cristo, which was unbelievably delicious. Made with smoked turkey, ham, Wexford Cheddar, and Swiss cheese on sourdough, it’s beer-battered and fried, then dusted with powdered sugar and served with raspberry preserves. The presentation was stunning, and I couldn't resist sharing it with everyone at the table. They all agreed it was the best sandwich they had ever tasted!

Overall, The Crafty Irishman is a must-visit for anyone in Dallas. I can't wait to go back!

Had a great experience. Staff was very friendly, helpful and quick. Scotch eggs aren’t on every menu so I had to try for comparison. I also had a bowl of tomato soup. Vince was a great server and the food was served perfectly.

Oh my god! Everything we ordered was sooooooooo amazing! Egg nog flights were very authentic, tastes exactly like their names (gingerbread, dark chocolate orange, cookies and cream, Irish coffee). And scotch eggs and fish and chips were great. Easily the best fish and chips we’ve had so far… (their chips are insane!)

We also order bread pudding, which was at just the right temperature and the right amount of sweetness 🙂

We’re definitely coming back when we’re visiting Dallas again!

Recent visit: arrived around 11:30 pm on a Friday night and was seated immediately. Place wasn’t crowded. Ordered fish & chips and corned beef and cabbage rolls. Food was tasty just like my previous visit. By the time we left the place was packed. Ben provided crazy good service. See you next time Ben and thank you!

Good food, service and ambiance. Parking can be a problem as most places in downtown Dallas.

Wanted a fix of fish and chips so I found this place. The food was sub par. My waiter didn't appear to wanna be bothered. I ordered the fish and chips to receive one piece of fish and 17 fries. My fries were under cooked and the fish was bland and more breading than fish. I ate it anyway because I was hungry. The coleslaw was just onion flavored cabbage. You couldn't taste any cream in the coleslaw at all but surprisingly it was decent. It was literally a spoonful though to eat. I paid $25.25 for nothing. I will not be returning.

Not a good as I was hoping for. Ordered the irish breakfast and asked for double blood pudding (swap out white pudding). They waited until meal was brought to table to tell me they were out of black pudding!! The bright spot was the scotch eggs, best I've ever had. Watched lots of fish and chips get served and the portion was a whole filled of fish and it looked good.

Love this place! I can depend on it being great, great food, great service overall great place. I always order fish and chips with sweet potato fries subbed in and the bread pudding. Both can be shared between two.
