If you are looking for employment & come across this company, steer clear! This company is very unprofessional and it feels like they have no idea what they are doing. First of all, normal companies fill out paperwork for new employees, asking for important information such as identification, social security number, address, and also have you complete a W-4 for tax purposes. This company did neither. They then made me a contract employee and found some lame contract online, which didn't even include my pay. This contract was sent back and forth until it was somewhat correct. I was given a time sheet to keep track of my hours, which I submitted bi-weekly as per the contract. After several emails and phone calls, I finally had to put them on hold before I received a response. It took me over a month to get my first paycheck. Same thing with my second paycheck. For my third time sheet, I was told to contact payroll directly. The person in payroll told me that he would have to "vet" my hours before he could pay me. He asked me for a detailed time sheet, which I was never told I needed and wasn't needed for the first two paychecks. This, once again, delayed my pay. After finally threatening to go to the Department of Labor, I was told my contract was terminated. Needless to say, payroll was unaware I was even hired. This company is not only unprofessional but also incompetent. Someone should definitely open an investigation into their conduct. I'm sure I am not the only employee that had this issue.

Update 2: The company was sold, and somehow, service actually got worse. They don't respond to emails, they don't answer phones, they don't return voicemail messages. We have at least one day down every few weeks because they refuse to send the toner on time. Avoid at all costs. They are completely incompetent.

Update: the folks at Gem reached out to me today to see what they could do to make things right. I am willing to give them that opportunity because of the conversation I had with DJ. If everything goes as discussed, I will provide a full, positive review. I look forward to that.

Being in the industry for 25 years and working for many dealers, I must say GEM has to be the best in the business. They treat all employees and customers as family. They pass on savings to customers and build strong lasting relationships. They did a tremendous job with my church and found cost saving solutions that fit our needs. If your looking for a one stop shop provider, GEM is it. You will not be disappointed!!

They are always available when I need them. They have at times gone above and beyond to help our small company when we were in a bind. The technical support is very good. If we ever were unhappy with anything, the sales rep has made it right. I would recommend. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the convoluted paperwork when we purchased a new copier and they had to buy out the old lease. It’s been a few months (with COVID in between to be fair) and we are still trying to straighten out the exact amounts owed and paid.

Please avoid this company at all costs. The only upside to our negative experience is the opportunity to keep others from making the same mistake we did and believing their empty promises. We have two copier leases through GEM. Our copiers are out of toner (which is supposed to be sent automatically, when we reach 20%) at least a few days each month. When we call, they make excuses, tell us we aren't out of toner, or just don't answer the phone. When we email, we may get a response, but with an excuse (e.g. they didn't have any internet for days and didn't ship our toner). Our copier has been out of toner for the past week and we have been unable to get them to ship us a new toner. My next call is to our legal counsel, as 3 years of this nonsense is enough.

I want to brag a bit on Gem's service department and two people in particular. We had a little issue with blurred printing and such. When we called for service, Victor came right out and discovered what the issues were and brought one part the next day and ordered the other part. We had what we call a big job, which was to print 50 copies of our annual congregational meeting booklet. The booklet was pretty important to me because this is the first time I have tried to do this with this church.

When Victor was done the temporary fix gave us the ability to print again but it was still a little streaked. I told Victor that was fine, we would make do.

About a half hour after Victor left, Brianna called to tell me she heard we were having a problem and had a big job to do and wanted me to email her the booklet and she would see that it got done for Sunday. Now mind you this was on Thursday morning. I sent her the booklet on Thursday afternoon.

On Friday Brianna came by afterwork (on her own time) to deliver 50 beautifully printed booklets and delivered them with a smile.

On Sunday as I showed the booklet to the congregation at our meeting I let them know that using Gem for our printer, IT stuff, and web design is worth every penny and told them the story.

I just wanted to say that I appreciate Gem for the manner in which they deliver their services. I have known them for a few years and have never experienced anything but excellence. Frankly I thought that was a fluke but as I have met more and more of their staff I have come to realize it isn’t just my rep. DJ Psarras (though he is pretty awesome), it is everyone I have come in contact with and that includes Victoria and her infinite patience with me as we work on the website design. Gem and the folks I have met so far continue to surprise me by their excellence in service and concern for our success.

I am certain that our contract is probably among the smallest that they have but, their service continues to show me that they value us as much as any other much larger customer.
