As a small business owner. This is a marketing scam. They contact your business and lay out plans starting at 1500.00 ang going up from there and they hit the more you pay the more likely tou will win. It is possible to win with spending a arm and a leg. If you can get your customers to vote every day and use a VPN to vote multiple times a day. I wish it was a non profit that people could only vote once per year...

I moved from Texas just over 2 years ago. I was surprised to go to so many businesses in this area and see all these awards "Best of Northern Utah" posted all over windows, walls, and other areas in local businesses. To be reliable scientific data and claim a business as the best would require that products or services in each category from each business are used by the majority of a population and by each client many times. It's not practical to see every doctor, surgeon, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, counselor, dietician, personal trainer, hair stylist, massage therapist, accountant, insurance agent, financial planner, chef, home builder, automotive salesperson, teacher, etc in a geographic area with dozens or hundreds of providers of similar goods and services.

The entire population in the area needs to be included but instead only a few hundred people may vote on multiple devices multiple times per day for the voting period for the same business to apper the best and encourage all their customers, employees, friends, and relatives to vote as well the same way which makes reality distorted.

Politicians, business owners, religious fanatics, athletes, and parents often brag about whatever is within their sphere of influence being the best, but in reality it's impossible to define BEST without all of the people trying everything all of the time.

Humans also only tend to opt in on surveys if there is a high level of passion on extreme ends of the spectrum if something was extraordinarily good or bad. The geriatric population often hate using smartphones, so they opt out online surveys to vote.

As one who took statistics, advertising, and marketing research as part of a Business Management Degree from BYU-IDAHO, I challenge "Best of Northern Utah" advertising to come up with a better method for those of us in Northern Utah to select businesses to patronize.

Google Reviews is somewhat reliable for businesses that have been around for a few years, but sometimes businesses pay or give rewards to customers who give 5 star reviews while awesome businesses don't mention giving a review online to customers but still provide 5 star service that few people know about.
