As a long-term resident at Courtyard/Marriott, I’ve experienced numerous issues that highlight a serious lack of professionalism, security, and guest care at this property. After raising concerns to management, specifically Danielle, I believe I was unfairly targeted and ultimately kicked out in retaliation for bringing these matters to light. Below are the key concerns I want to share:
1.Fraternization and Employee Drama: I’ve witnessed an ongoing pattern of inappropriate relationships between employees that have created a highly unprofessional environment. Patrick, one of the employees, has been involved with several coworkers, which has led to multiple public disputes. For example, his ex-girlfriend Gene physically fought another employee, Lay Lay, after learning that Patrick had slept with her. This conflict escalated on social media, leading to a fight at a bowling alley. Additionally, Lay Lay and another employee, Faith, got into a heated argument in a work group chat while Patrick was away for training in Seattle. These personal dramas have spilled into the workplace, making it uncomfortable for guests and staff alike.
It’s also well-known that Patrick and some of the other employees frequent Cabo Cantina in Hollywood on Wednesdays, where they drink excessively and engage in further inappropriate behavior. These outings have contributed to the tensions among staff and have led to fights and further drama at work.
2. False Accusations and Retaliation: After informing Danielle, a manager at the hotel, about the ongoing issues, I was unfairly accused of threatening someone. Despite asking for more information, I was never told who made the accusation or what specific threat I allegedly made. It became clear that this was an excuse to justify kicking me out of the hotel, as I had never engaged in any threatening behavior. This accusation seemed retaliatory, as it came shortly after I made Danielle aware of Patrick’s fraternization and the disruptive behavior among staff. I believe I was targeted for simply trying to address the serious issues affecting the hotel’s environment.
3. Subpar Food Quality: The food at Medici leaves much to be desired. For example, the pizza is poorly made, with the toppings sliding off as soon as you pick it up. The breakfast options are repetitive and unhealthy, with pork sausage often being served. It would be beneficial to see a more varied and healthier selection of food, such as scrambled eggs, spinach quiche, or oatmeal.
4. Security Concerns: There have been multiple security lapses at this location. In one instance, a homeless individual was able to access the back office, frightening one of the employees. This raises serious concerns about how someone could bypass security. Additionally, neighborhood residents frequently use the hotel’s pool on weekends without being registered guests.
5. Theft by Housekeeping: During my stay, I had money stolen from my room by a member of the housekeeping staff. I reported the issue, but management did not inform me of any follow-up actions or resolutions.
6. Mishandling of Guest Safety: Another alarming incident occurred when a guest was assaulted by the estranged husband of another guest, who waited in the hallway overnight. Instead of addressing the situation appropriately, the hotel asked the woman who had been assaulted to leave, which is an unacceptable response to such a serious safety issue.7.Ongoing Inappropriate Behavior: Fraternization among employees continues to be a problem. For example, Patrick made inappropriate comments to another employee, Erica, asking her if she had engaged in sexual activity with a maintenance worker. He also frequently talks negatively about his ex-girlfriend, Gene, to other women he’s involved with, creating an even more toxic work environment.
In conclusion, after bringing these issues to the attention of Danielle and other management staff, I was wrongfully accused and kicked out. Below is a picture of four of the people mentioned in this review excluding the girl with blonde highlights.
