Nestled in a modest industrial building in Fairbanks, Black Spruce Brewing Co. proves that great things come in unassuming packages. Known as one of the best breweries in Alaska, this spot lived up to its reputation and then some.

The parking lot beer garden adds a casual vibe that invites patrons to enjoy their brews in the fresh air, even on a chilly Fairbanks evening.

The standout of the visit was the Willet Bourbon Blend Reginald Van Horn Barleywine. This meticulously crafted blend of Barleywine was aged to perfection—12 months in Willet Bourbon barrels and 7 months in Knob Creek Bourbon barrels. The result is a complex, velvety brew that balances rich malt sweetness with the warmth of bourbon. It’s not just a beer; it’s an experience. Easily the most memorable beer of the trip, it showcased the brewery's dedication to quality and creativity.

This is my favorite brewery in Fairbanks! I appreciate all the variety of beers and cider on tap. Service is always top notch and it's a great place to hang out!

Definitely quieter than the other breweries. Wife especially loved it due to all the ciders and sours on tap. Had two of their beers, an IPA and a stout. The stout definitely was something I’d go back for. Not much out of the ordinary and some snacks sold on site. Wasn’t a problem as we had dinner before coming in. Plenty of seating and friendly bartender.

Outstanding, prompt service. Great selection of beer. Aroma Dome IPA seemed popular (most people in line ordered this beer). Atmosphere was welcoming with both indoor and outside seating. Highly recommend.

I was told your beer is the best in the State! The beer is good, the food truck provided delicious food, and she was a very cool individual.
The bartender was unwelcoming which was also great because it saved me a lot of money not wanting to stay very long, or buy merch.
