I will no longer Drive through Virginia, the cops there are unprofessional and just looking to write tickets. I was easy prey being from out of state, because they know you are pretty much forced to plead guilty. I was ticketed for 11 miles an hour over the speed limit which is a total joke, the police officer was very rude, unprofessional and treated me like I was a criminal when I had zero traffic offenses on my record. No wonder so many people have very few good things to say about Virginia. Avoid this crooked state at all costs!

Im not from virginia but i have to be fair. I was warned by multiple people about emporia and how they over police and basically its a guaranteed ticket driving through there, came up to VA to help take care of my grandparents was up here a couple of months. On my way back up for my trouble was given a reckless driving for going 15 over, was given a ticket for being in VA with a out of state license and the cherry on top was the ticket for my tint being too dark. After my courtdate will never go through here again and i reccomend now to everyone (how tables turn) to stay out of that GOD awful city

The whole system is just rigged entirely, I got reckless driving and no valid license and registration when I had both of those but was in my aunts car, and the officer wouldn’t let me call her to see where it was! I was about to deploy for 6 months overseas and was home on leave and he said he didn’t care and I still got it! Out of state cars stay away, they don’t want to see you there. 8 years of service for this country and VA has made it impossible to get a job.

Honestly this was the best traffic court experience I’ve ever had.. I drove about 90 minutes to come to court

I’ve gotten a few tickets like for headlights, brake light, or my third brake light being out else where. And I sat in court for HOURS waiting to be heard.

I came to court after getting a speeding ticket and I’ve heard nothing but horror stories. I was really really nervous.

The deputy who wrote me the ticket was really nice to me, very respectful.

The deputies or officers who did the COVID questions were super super nice, too. Please note you can’t bring in a water bottle but they will give you a cup of water if you have medical issues. I thought that was really nice of them since some of us do need water if we’re somewhere more than 15-20 minutes

I am hard of hearing and I had to ask one of the guys for the instructions again. I was super nervous but he walked me into the court room and told me everything would be okay. I really appreciated that

There was no one but me, the judge and writing officers. The judge spoke to me immediately and handled my ticket. He was very respectful and not demeaning.

I was in and out of the courthouse in 5 minutes from start to leaving after paying my ticket.

The lessons… don’t speed or do illegal things in Greenville. But if you do, accept it, own it and be respectful because the folks here aren’t as bad as they’re made out to be

I hate the state of Virginia for being complete idiots. I got a reckless driving speeding ticket when I was going through the state back in April and I had to appear in court in May the time said 11:00 the hearing didn’t start till almost 3:00pm!!!!! When I told the judge that I didn’t want the points on my driving record he ask how my driving record was and I told him it didn’t look good but I’ve been clean for 2 years.. switch is the truth.. asked for me to send my driving record over which I did now a month later I get another latter through the mail because apparently he wasn’t satisfied with my driving record I gotta do a 12 hour aggressive driving school program brought my ticket up another hundred dollars and I got to pay for the stupid class how can you go back on your word? By far the worst experience I’ve ever had with any court I’ve been to and it’s costing me a lot of money

STAY AWAY FROM EMPORIA. YOUR GOING TO GET TARGETED AND FINED. The officer lied and said I was going 75 in a 60 in a uhaul with my car attatched to the back of a trailer. They knew I wasn’t gonna be able to make it back so I had to pay $150 for a lawyer and $166 to the court. They literally just sit around writing false tickets all day just to meet their daily quota. 1 star is too much for these scammers. 0/10 DO NOT RECCOMEND

I lost everything behind Virginia laws. Now I’m unemployed unable to go to finish college, or attend to my health needs because of a reckless driving charge. Thank you. You are all world class and great American people. This country is unable to travel thru Virginia without their lives being ruined. #StayAwayFromVa USA USA USA !!!
