Lear and Pannepacker made two errors on my 2022 and 2023 tax returns. In 2022 they missed the fact that I had a $ 225,000 rollover in my IRA after the sale of my house. They were the ones who informed me of the potential income savings. We submitted and signed the taxes so we cannot complain, but.... They never called to ask why our tax bill jumped so drastically. Despite what their marketing material says, there is no personal knowledge of me or my finances. An amended return by another firm yielded a tax return of $57,510 instead of a tax bill of $ 67,000. I lost a lot of money over the span of over two years in potential investments.
They then missed an $ 80,000 roll over in 2023. Same as the year before. Their service has slipped and is NOT personalized. It has become a rubber stamp wrought with errors.

As an example, they did my amended return for 2023. I received notices from the IRS and Lear and Pannepacker via email that I had quarterlies due. I'm getting a small refund. I called and asked to stop the emails. The second set of emails came at 4:07 AM and again at 5:37 AM on 9/1/24. My phone is by my bed in case of emergencies. I thought something was wrong!

I’m still waiting for my return. I took out a second mortgage to pay off my tax bill. I’m still paying off my mortgage at a rate of 6%.
Lear and Pannepacker told me that the IRS would pay me interest on my return. They were unsure of the rate I would receive. I think that they should know. I have a debit interest rate with the mortgage. The rate the IRS is paying is a credit. They told me that I would have to live with the credit that the IRS would pay minus the mortgage interest. Did they fail accounting 101?
