For over a decade, I’ve been a loyal attendee of Matthews Auctioneers, and I can’t recommend them enough—five stars all the way! Steven and the LaRaviere family run every auction with remarkable fairness, efficiency, and genuine care for their customers. Their dedication shines through in the seamless organization, clear communication, and detailed listings—complete with photos, dates, times, and directions—whether you’re bidding in-person or online.
The auctions are fast-paced and packed with an incredible variety of items, and their online auctions are a standout, letting you score fantastic deals from the comfort of your home. I’ve found some of my best bargains this way! Steven’s loyalty to his customers is unmatched; he’s always approachable, happily explaining the bidding or payment process to ensure everyone feels confident and included. Matthews Warehouse Deals is another gem, offering top-quality merchandise at unbeatable prices, open Monday through Saturday.

Send multiple emails regarding picking up my items, didn't receive the first response. I couldn't pickup my items because of bad weather and now I'm out the items and the money.

If you buy and try to return Stephen will not call you back If you need to return something.
Even after calling at least 5 times NO return or answer! I originally gave 4 stars but I updated this to show that the customer experience isn't what it used to be.

Update . . . I took 2 of the toilets back today and was given credit for both. The 3rd I kept and hopefully we can make it work! At the time I posted this review I was so mad/frustrated with the condition of the items, and in all fairness did not give matthews a chance to rectify the situation. I'm very thankful they understood they described incorrectly and I understand it wasn't on purpose. Gave them 4 out of 5 stars just for the trouble of returning. I will definitely be doing business with matthews in the future, still love the auction and their store! 😀

I have purchased several items from the auction, some have been 100% fine and happy with my purchase. I understand the return policy and take full responsibility for not checking my items within the 3 days. I also have come across 100% false advertisement on the descriptions! They are all items that have been returned by customers for some unknown reasons. Mathews employee's open the boxes and write "opened box not tested" but also put new, no damages and no missing parts. There is where the problem is! They don't thoroughly check parts to even make sure they are the correct parts. I am stuck with 3 toilets (I didn't check within the 3days, busy with remodle. My fault) one is missing tank lid, and all have been installed somewhere else, NOT AT ALL NEW like they advertised on auction. Now I'm stuck with all 3 pieces or garbage and have to buy again. Do not trust what they say in the descriptions!! Very disappointed in their business practices!!

They have a very random and good selection of merchandise. They clearly mark any damages they see and are very honest in their descriptions. The whole crew at Matthews are honest, friendly and so easy to work with. I have done business with them for many years and hope to for many more years.

I have purchased items from the auction for many years. If it is desk chairs, filing cabinets, etc. your fine but if you purchase electronic devises, chances are they do not work. I purchases 4 large format printers and copiers from the Virginia Tech auction over the years. Only one of which worked and only worked for a couple of years with little use. The latest one purchased on 12/15/23 would not even power up without displaying error screens. Do they not even check to see if their items turn on? Don't waist your time on things like computers, printers, laptops, tablets, cameras or anything else electronic. They will wind up in the landfill at your expense.

We love this place. We have purchased a lot of bargains and the prices are outstanding. The staff is friendly and efficient. We have occasionally purchased an item that did not work but they always list the items as untested and advise you to come check them out before you buy. But we love most of our items and continue to get great deals.

I have been attending Matthews Auctions for over 10 years. I have always been well pleased with the auctions. They are run smoothly, fairly and the Matthew family is a wonderful family who put in a lot of time and energy to ensure the auction(s) you attend or participate on-line include all information as to date, time and directions. Pictures are always available and it is fast paced as they constantly have so many items to sell. I have great respect for the Matthews family and they are never to busy to explain something and ensure everyone knows how to place a bid and make a payment. I look forward to the weekly auctions as well as Matthews Warehouse Deals, for great priced merchandise that is open Monday through Saturday. Highly recommend!!!!.
