Building is super cool. A rustic, charming pub with stained glass fixtures and germanic styling.

Service was friendly - sat at the bar.

The fish and chips - at only 16 bucks its hard to be too harsh (considering location). Fries were good, fish was very boxed-fishstick tasting (aka gross).

People did seem to be enjoying their burgers so many go for that. Dont recommend the dish I got, but the beer was good and service was nice.

The best thing about this pub is the atmosphere. This has the typical old-world, Saxon charm - slightly reminiscent of the taverns from Lord of the Rings. Has a wide selection of draught beers and locally sourced ales, excellent service and very reasaonably priced. A frequent haunt for me on Friday evenings.

Fun pub! Energetic atmosphere. Cool decor. Friendly and knowledgeable staff should you have any questions on the beer. Easy enough snagging a table. Will definitely be back again!

Great beer selection, good food atmosphere. Certainly worth stopping by. We’re on vacation but plan to revisit when we’re back in town.

We arrived 30 minutes before closing looking for something to eat, and we could not have had a more unpleasant experience. We were treated rudely when we merely asked if the kitchen was open. I suppose friendliness is reserved solely for tips. By the way, I hope you pay copyright fees for Cruzcampo beer, as the logo imitation is quite evident. The place is probably great, but—please forgive me for identifying it this way—it was the bald man who turned us away that ruined what could have been a nice moment there.

Love this place! Great that they get the beers we had in small towns in Belgium that you can't get anywhere else in Chicago. Friendly staff like Paulie and Mike make you feel at home! That bison burger is awesome, as well as other items on the menu. Come on in and grab a beer!

This place always deliver. The best beer selection in the loop. The food is good too; nothing gourmet, but plenty tasty with a good brew. And the ambiance is friendly; people who can behave even after two boozy ales.

As part of a conference we were attending this week, we did a walking tour through Chicago all about the Lager beer riot of 1855. Our tour ended at Monk's Pub. They don't accommodate reservations after a certain time, so we were at the mercy of the bar for seating. They were able to split us into smaller groups and get us seated pretty quickly which we appreciated. A few members of our group ordered some food and seemed to enjoy the offerings. The drinks were good and the service was quick! I hope I can come back some time.
