The staff was very friendly and got me set up with a library card while my son participated in the board games and brownies gathering. It's really nice and friendly environment and it's great how many things they have for the kids.

Yeah, don’t ask the woman at the front desk of this place if you can leave anything on the counter for a brief second while you step outside to meet your DoorDasher to grab your lunch and drink, because she’ll tell you “it’s not that far and your stuff doesn’t look heavy and it’s not that far for you to carry your stuff and you look capable.” I had 2 laptops a cinch bag and my purse. I had been there for 4 hours working (power was out at my hotel for power grid maintenance) it’s not like it would have been that hard for them to say sure go ahead. It was 3 feet from the door to the dasher and it’s not like I wasn’t going to come back for my stuff, I just needed to be able to have 2 free hands to grab my lunch and drink from the doordasher and go right back inside. Staff is rude and needs to be a bit more people empathetic and friendly. You can look for a book but don’t look for a smile or understanding you won’t find either of them here.

Overhearing the staff gossip about other people constantly is like watching a highschool drama. What's that Eleanor Roosevelt quote? Small minded people only seem to talk about others while those who are smarter talk about big ideas?
I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist.
The way the staff treats homeless individuals is disgusting as well. The director should probably be fired or fire the staff that continues this behavior.

Went in to check out some books and when I sat down at a table to look up a book I was told I wasn't allowed to sit at the table because it was for teens only...mind you this was at 9am mid week...horrible attitudes

The staff are nice and do what they can but are overwhelmed with the amount of homeless people and drug attics that either take up space inside or set up their personal shower space in the bathrooms. The front of the building is always populated by transients that are harassing people coming in or walking by. The police station is across from the library and they do nothing to help. I feel really bad for the employees that have to put up with the shenanigans day in and day out.

I miss visiting this place so much since it closed due to COVID-19. This is, honestly, my favorite place in town. It was a lifesaver for me for job hunting when I first moved to Morgantown and it's been a mainstay of my life ever since. The staff are wonderful and if I ever have a question, they're ready to help, and the director and her staff do an incredible job of engaging with the community. They have a great selection of books, DVDs, CDs, audio-books, periodicals, and they provide access to Hoopla and WV DELI. Plus, they have free programs for kids AND adults! When I had the good fortune to be employed part -time there two years ago, a lot of the staff became my friends, and it's always great to see them when I go back. Libraries like this one deserve as much funding as we can give them.

15 minutes before closing a employee shut the lights off while my grandchildren where reading books. She said we are closing and walked away left us in the dark. The woman looked very angry. Another employee came and flipped the light switch back on and she looked like she felt bad for the rude woman’s actions. I don’t know if the mean old woman still works there. I hope she does not.
