a bar that hasn't lost it's charm, the old town ale house doesn't disappoint. Fantastic political satire infused portraits adorned on the walls - you won't get bored. Drinks are cheap and strong. Cash only like the Lord intended

If you're lookin' for a true Chicago dive with character, Old Town Ale House is the spot. The walls are decked out with funky, sometimes risqué art that'll keep you entertained between sips. Drinks are affordable; I grabbed a Daisy Cutter Pale Ale for around $6. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring in your own grub or have something delivered. Cash only, so hit up an ATM beforehand. Perfect joint to hit before or after a show at Second City across the street.

Cold beer, good prices and a good atmosphere. The bar is decorated with paintings by the owner, some of which are fairly unique. I stopped in here because I saw the place on one of Anthony Bourdain’s shows, I’d definitely come back.

You get what you ordered and maybe a seat but that's about it. Nothing charming about the staff who serves you. They're stuck up and miserable like the yuppies in that neighborhood. I did not feel welcome like the way I imagine it would feel like when walking into Trump country.

I came here for some after work drinks with a few friends. It’s a very unique bar with some risqué political themed art. The bartender was very nice and handled the bar well. Overall, I had a great time but probably would avoid bringing my grandmother here. Also, it is cash only.

*CASH ONLY BAR* Stumbled upon this dive bar before a second city show across the street. It was so funny, the bar owner is a painter and the bar is filled with his art. Thankfully he's good the the art is funny (there was a lot of anti-trump commentary). Drinks were cheap there were comfy chairs, so I liked it.

Cool old dive bar. Cash only. Funny political pictures. Not conservative if that would offend you and risky. Cash only. Definitely a stop. Antony Bourdain filmed a clip there.

Sunday evening. Bartender was one of the least friendly and outgoing people I've ever met in a bar. Didn't even greet me when I sat down, as his wiping glasses was more important. I had to say hello to him and ask about the drafts. He seemed disinterested that there were even people in there. A lady sat down in the back and he never even acknowledged her whatsoever. Her friend came in to meet her and it was the same story.
