I'm updating my review to 1 star after seeing the owner's misleading reply. I find it disingenuous to deny the recent departure of 2 long-term managers - facts I'm quite familiar with. The claim about having an 18-year veteran chef is particularly ironic given your more recent acquisition of the restaurant. Instead of deflecting criticism, I suggest focusing on addressing your staffing issues and learning to accept feedback gracefully.

Original Review: I've been going to The Globe for 7ish years - since before they split into two spots and the Eagle Bar opened next door. Back in the day, this place was awesome. You'd walk in and someone would be right there to greet you, the servers were super friendly, and there was an amazing manager who would always stop by just to check how everything was going. The whole staff worked together to make sure everyone was having a good time.

However, the last ~5 months have been rough. Sure, they spruced the place up a bit - got some new bar stools, finally fixed that wobbly bench on the wall, did some work on the TVs and such. But along with all that came some price hikes, and worse, all our favorite people left - the awesome servers, our go-to bartender, and that great manager (there is one server who’s been there since the beginning and she’s awesome, but I hardly see her anymore).

These days, the service is just... yikes. There's this one newer server who literally moves like they're underwater and completely blanks us out when we try to get their attention. The last straw was about 2 months ago when my friend and I went in on a slow, mostly empty Saturday night. We sat at a table for a solid 20 minutes (not even exaggerating) trying to catch someone's eye while four different employees ignored us. We ended up bailing and going to Mrs. Murphy's & Sons instead. Funny enough, the bartender over there told us they only ever need two people behind the bar, even on their busiest nights, and they manage just fine.

It really bums me out because I live right in the neighborhood and The Globe used to be my spot. They've got some serious issues to work out before I'll go back.

FOOD REVIEW: I'm attaching some photos of the food I've had there in the past. Their Monte Cristo is my go-to order and favorite menu item (but it only comes with orange slices instead of fries AND they increased the price by $2). They have a variety of fries, all of which are amazing (I’ll admit that was one of the positive changes they’ve made - the curly fries are now regularly in stock as of March 2024). All of their wraps are delicious! I’d skip the mac n cheese, it lacks flavor.

Long-overdue 5 star review for the Globe. We love coming here for Arsenal matches. Staff takes great care of us (shout out Claire, Johnny, and Adam) and we’re always happy with the food and drink.

This is THE place to watch the 2023 Women's World Cup especially if you're interested in a non-USWNT match. Yes, they'll have it on with audio!
Super helpful staff with getting a quality match viewing experience. Great food (cobb salad!). Quality selection of non-alcoholic beers. Clean and spacious bathroom. Easy (meter) street parking.

Wonderful English breakfast. The drinks and atmosphere are amazing for Arsenal fans. Unfortunately it’s also a Manchester city official bar, didn’t use to be like that. The manager was harsh and short with her customers. Overall wondering atmosphere. P.S. shoutout to the brownie lady!

It's a nice sports bar. We went on a day it was raining a bit so it had a lighter crowd. The seating areas are good with tall stools and high tables which i love. They also showed an ongoing cricket world cup match when I was there which was a happy surprise for me. Overall, a decent sports bar.

Came in for lunch on a Sunday. First time visiting. Food is okay. Nothing special. Great beer selection. Decent draft selection and a large bottle/can collection.

A lot of comments say this place is great to watch soccer. Inside is decorated with various soccer memorabilia. Also a good place to watch football.

Great place to watch soccer, but came here on a Sunday and American football atmosphere was similar (though less crowded). Tons of beer options on draft. Good selections of food as well.

Amazing pub to watch football /soccer/. European style, and decor like at the stadium. In addition, excellent service and good food for the fan. It is worth highlighting the brilliant sound inside while watching the match and a lot of screens which makes from any place a perfect visibility of the screens. Here you can see any match broadcast from all over the world.
