I really want to support "local" journalism by subscribing to papers like this. I did a trial subscription for 13 weeks for something like 25 cents, knowing that I would have to cancel before that time. So I set a reminder in my phone for 1 week before the 13 weeks is up to cancel. 10 days before the 13 week mark, my card was charged for about $20, so I called to cancel and ask for a refund since the covered subscription period hadn't even started. They refused to issue a refund. Basically they scammed me for $20 by charging my card 10 days early, before I had a chance to cancel the trial. I've signed up for many free trials and used this system before, but never have I seen a company charge my card 10 days early, and never have I been refused a refund if I miss the deadline. They tried to offer me $1 a week, which I would normally consider but because of the deception would never do business with them again.

I am very disappointed in this operation. I ordered the newspaper for my father as a Christmas gift for 8 weeks. I only got three weeks and no refund because my phone was shutting off and I had to call in early. I wanted him to get the 8 weeks but he got screwed and so did I. I paid for 8 full weeks. I would not recommend getting a subscription. The customer service man I spoke with was downright nasty. Don't get this paper. You will get ripped off.
